It’s been a quiet start to the year on the blog front. Sorry I haven’t been posting more regularly. I’ve been trying to sink hours into writing the next book. Key word here, “trying.” The January school holidays annihilated my word count. It’s almost impossible to write with four kids at home. But I should have expected that.
Due to my lack lustre performance in January, I was very determined to go hard in February when the kids were back in school. The first week was really good. Then our air conditioner broke down and a heat wave rolled through Perth. Our reverse cycle could not be fixed until a part arrived from over east. Said part, did not come for two whole weeks.
I nearly died!
The children weren’t impressed either. For a fortnight I became this dehydrated, sleep deprived, zombie with writing cravings that could not be satisfied without overheating my computer. That’s how you put the ‘s’ in stresssssed!
I did spend some time trying to get out of the house (or shall we call it, The Hot Box). I had a couple of radio interviews and a library talk to celebrate the release of “The Girl in the Yellow Vest,” which was great fun and much less sweaty. (Both venues had working air-conditioning- Sweet relief.) I thought I’d wrap up this post with a couple of photos from my adventures.
As for March, here’s to a BIG jump in word count and more blogs. I can’t deal with any more force majeure! Fingers crossed!
